This One Day airway management course is designed to be delivered over 10 hours (0830 – 1830hrs) and is will not only refresh and re-enforce basic airway management techniques, but also to train candidates in further airway management procedures.

 

The course is designed for those who work in the pre-hospital, care home and hospital settings such as:

 

  • First aiders

  • First Responders

  • Emergency Medical Technicians

  • Auxiliary nurses

  • Registered Nurses

  • General medical practitioners

  • Dentists

  • Registered dental nurses

  • Physiotherapists involved in sport first aid

 

The course covers:

 

Basic airway management skills:

  • Head tilt chin lift

  • Jaw Thrust

  • Positioning of patient

 

Management of a tracheotomy patient including:

  • How to clear a mucus plug

  • How to provide oxygen therapy

  • How to resuscitate a tracheotomy patient

 

Management of an asthmatic patient:

  • Correct use of ventolin inhalers

  • Correct use of nebulised Salbutamol and / or Ipratropium Bromide

 

Use of airway adjuncts:

  • Correct use and insertion of oro-pharyngeal airways

  • Correct use and insertion of naso-pharyngeal airways

  • Correct use and insertion of I-Gel supra-glotic airway

 

Oxygen Therapy:

  • Oxygen in COPD

  • Oxygen in Medical Emergencies

  • Oxygen in Trauma

 

Basic life support:

  • Adult basic life support

  • Adult basic life support using the pocket face mask

  • Adult basic life support using the Bag, Valve, Mask

  • Adult basic life support using an Automated Emergency Ventilator
  • Adult basic life support using an Automated External Defibrillator

 

Course cost:

·         £75.00

 

For January we are offering the following special rates

 

  • 1 - 3 Candidates  £60.00 per person
  •  4 - 7 Candidates £50.00 per person
  •  8 - 12 Candidates £40.00 per candidate

 

Duration:

·         1 Day (10 hours) and includes breaks for tea and lunch.

Please note Tea and coffee is provided. Food is not provided.

 

Certification:

 

Candidates will receive a certificate covering the techniques delivered on the course, valid for 3 years.
